As such, each exhibition presents a selection of Helmut Newton’s innovative, provocative images in dialogue with works by the very best photographers of our time, f.i. in juxtaposition with David Lachapelle<\/strong> and James Nachtwey<\/strong>, with Larry Clark<\/strong> and Ralph Gibson<\/strong>, Greg Gorman<\/strong> and Frank Horvat<\/strong>, with Mario Testino<\/strong> and Guy Bourdin<\/strong>, with Sarah Moon<\/strong> and Paolo Roversi<\/strong>, with David Lynch<\/strong> and Saul Leiter<\/strong> \u2013 this dialogue will be proceeding.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The popularity of the exhibitions has allowed the HNF to establish itself as an dynamic new part of Berlin’s cultural scene. The addition of a stunning setting, plus a permanent display entitled Helmut Newton’s Private Property<\/em><\/a>, make the foundation a must-see for anyone visiting this exciting city. Due to the close collaboration with C\/O Berlin<\/a> and the Collection of Photography of the Art Library<\/a> the three institutions in two buildings create an unique photo-cluster<\/strong> in Germany. The European Month of Photography has been hosted in the fall of 2016 and 2018 by these institutions in West-Berlin.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Helmut Newton Foundation not only organizes exhibitions in Berlin but also in other renowned museums and institutions abroad, in Amsterdam (Foam), Budapest (Museum of Fine Arts), Genova (Palazzo Ducale), Houston (Museum of Fine Arts), Milan (Palazzo Reale), Munich (Hypo-Kunsthalle), Paris (Grand Palais), Rome (Palazzo delle Espositioni), Stockholm (Fotografiska), Venice (Tre Oci) and Montreal (Museum of Fine Arts) among others. It is a Foundation registered according to swiss law in Zurich, Switzerland. The HNF is an international foundation dedicated to the promotion, preservation and presentation of the photographic works of Helmut and June Newton, who under the name of Alice Springs<\/a> has also produced a significant body of portraiture photography since 1970. At its inception, Helmut Newton endowed the foundation with numerous original photographs that comprise a significant proportion of his artistic work.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]In October 2003, the HNF entered into a formal agreement with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (Stiftung Preu\u00dfischer Kulturbesitz) that allows the Helmut Newton Foundation unlimited use of the ground and first floors of the former military casino in Berlin-Charlottenburg<\/a> (Landwehrkasino) for exhibition purposes.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Various aspects of Newton\u2019s multifaceted, innovative and provocative works will be presented over a series of exhibitions. Following a period of renovation, this beautiful building was re-opened to the public in June 2004, with the exhibitions Us and Them<\/em> and Sex and Landscapes<\/em>. Since then almost 2 million visitors have enjoyed the photography shows on display in the 1,500 square meters of exhibition space.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Due to a public-private partnership with the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation, an additional photo institution – the Collection of Photography of the Art Library \/ States Museums of Art – occupies the upper two floors, including the former \u201cemperor’s ballroom\u201d.[\/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading heading_semantic=”h4″ text_size=”h4″]Museum for Photography[\/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]The Collection of Photography of the Art Library is located on the second floor of the museum, in the so called Kaisersaal.<\/p>\n
