2003 vs. 2026 – the Helmut Newton Foundation becomes the Newton Foundation
Founded in 2003 by Helmut Newton, the foundation has evolved from a Berlin-based institution into a global presence, with exhibitions touring worldwide and ongoing collaborations with renowned collections and luxury brands.
Whether in museums, at festivals, or in interdisciplinary contexts within fashion and lifestyle, the impact of Helmut Newton’s work remains undiminished, even 22 years after his death. At the same time, the foundation is actively bringing the work of June Newton, known as Alice Springs, into sharper focus.
With the new name, logo, and design, his first name steps back, making room for both: HELMUT & JUNE NEWTON. Welcome to the Newton Foundation.

Intermezzo. Revisiting Helmut Newton
From 24 April
On 24 April 2026, after more than 20 years of successfully presenting the permanent exhibition Helmut Newton’s Private Property on the ground floor of the Museum of Photography, we will open an expanded exhibition concept called Intermezzo. Revisiting Helmut Newton – and introduce a new, more immersive way to experience Helmut Newton’s work and personality.
At the heart of the presentation is an impressive film room: eight video projectors and four large-format screens stage an elaborately produced film portrait of our foundation’s founder. Immerse yourself in Newton’s legacy, witness the master at work, and listen to moving anecdotes shared by his companions and contemporaries.
